The Clos Saint-Landry is a walled in (Clos) "MONOPOLE" Chardonnay vineyard of 1.98 hectares in size and owned entirely by Bouchard since 1791.
NOTES: A rich golden color followed by aromas of ripe white peach, fresh cut honeycrisp apple and wine poached Bosc pear with underlying tones of clover honeycomb and lemon-drop candies. Full-ish in body with a textural mouthfeel. Ripe, rich and deliciously dry with plenty of orchard fruit and lemon peel backed up by a brisk thread of minerality.
Tasting blind this drinks like great Corton Chalemagne at over half the price. You can't beat this! The 2018 is in pristine condition, stored in impeccable conditions, and will continue to age gracefully in your cellar for many years to come.
INFO: It is on the Clos St. Landry site that the oldest traces of Chardonnay (going back to the 1200s AD) in Burgundy can be found. The soils of Clos St.Landry are very light in color and composition with sandy soils mixed with white marl. This outcropping of limestone is absolutely perfect for Chardonnay whereas surrounding soils are more suited to Pinot Noir making Clos St. Landry an island of sorts.
