54% Cab, 29% Merlot, 14% Cab Franc, 3% Petit verdot
Keith's notes from the vertical tasting of d'Armailhac: Polished and refined with mature notes of blackcurrant, boysenberry and a touch of redfruits, supplemented by hints of underbrush and rubbed herb. It is developing the subtle earth and cellar basement notes beautifully. Full body, extremely fine texture and a long, long finish. The 2012 was my 3rd favorite of the 9 different vintages-Keith
VINTAGE NOTE: The the best producers of Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Saint-Estèphe and Margaux all delivered solid quality, and the best examples tended to have a balanced and refined structure with clear focused fruit. Merlot from this vintage was superb in quality. A vintage of refinement and nuance rather than sheer power.
