Boillot inherited most of the vineyards he farms today from his grandfathers, Henri Boillot and Etienne Sauzet (maternal); the pedigree at this estate is therefore unrivalled! Jean-Marc worked at Olivier Leflaive as the winemaker for five years before creating his own estate in 1985. Holding some of the best terroirs in Puligny-Montrachet, Boillot stands alongside current greats like Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and Arnaud Ente. His Chardonnays are sensational, but unlike some of his peers still remarkably affordable.
La Garenne" comes from the medieval Latin word "Warenna", a term signifying woods surrounded by walls or hedgerows that lords used for breeding and hunting small game.
Garenne is a small vineyard, just on the cusp of the heights of Puligny's Premier Crus. This is a classically styled Puligny, with a fresh stony, Pellegrino-like minerality backed by plenty of crisp orchard fruit flavors. Excellent weight and texture.
